When the Cloward-Piven Strategy was Unveiled by Richard Cloward & Frances Fox Piven, in 1966

by Trevor Loudon, at New Zeal & KeyWiki Blog

Many commentators on the U.S. left have tried to minimize the significance and importance of the Cloward-Piven Strategy, made famous by writer James Simpson and TV personality Glenn Beck.

According to Simpson and Beck, Columbia University sociologists, husband and wife team Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, devised a strategy in the early 1960s, to crash the U.S. economy and bring on socialist revolution by deliberately overloading state welfare rolls to the point of bankruptcy.

Many on the left regard this hypotheses as gross exaggeration at best, deliberate misrepresentation at worst.

Cloward and Piven outlined their strategy at the Second Annual Socialist Scholars Conference , held September 9-11, 1966 at the Hotel Commodore, New York, in a panel entitled;

"Poverty and Powerlessness Organizing the Poor: Can it Be Done?"

Below is an eye witness report on this historic panel written by conservative journalist Alice Widener - a highly regarded authority on the U.S. left of the day. The report appeared in Widener's USA Magazine, September 16, 1966 page 28 and 29.

Read it and judge for yourself Cloward and Piven's intentions. Emphasis added. [I.O. Ed.: photo, of Richard A. Cloward]
Dr. Cloward's paper for the Socialist Scholars opened with a call for a systematic strategy of "irregular and disruptive tactics" among the poor, urging them to overburden city and state governments with their "demand,," as a means of forcing these governments to turn to the federal government for more and more funds.

Prof. Cloward said, "We need, to devote more attention to disrupting corporate power." He described the poor as mere "supplicants" in the welfare state, and said they have most to gain "from a major upheaval in our society." He said our welfare system is "lawless" and violates human and civil rights. He called for welfare recipients' forcing city welfare departments to impose the labor union "check-off system" for welfare clients, by withholding 50 cents to a dollar for each client as dues to a fund for unionization of welfare clients to impose their demands for special benefits.

Prof. Cloward explained that each welfare client in New York City is entitled under existing law to special benefits for clothing, blankets, etc. He said that in 1965 city special benefits welfare payments amounted to "about $40 per client" and he called for each welfare client to demand $100 to $1,000 in such benefits.

He said there are now 55,000 welfare clients in the city, but that by 1967 there probably will be 60,000. The poor, said Dr. Cloward, could become a stake and powerful organization "in small portions of power" within the context "of a broader point."

Dr. Cloward said he had consulted with legal experts and "we estimate that $200 million in special grants" could be obtained in New York City alone: Dr. Cloward said that 'in Cleveland, on June 20, 1966, 30 to 35 welfare recipients were joined by others in a demonstration that included the Hough area.

In early August, he said, he himself had taken part in "a national conference to organize the welfare recipients movement: Dr. Cloward said he personally had taken part in Wednesday night meetings with welfare clients "week after week, month after month," and that as a result, "Next Monday there will be a demonstration of welfare recipients at City Hall"

Dr. Cloward read his paper to the Socialist Scholars Conference in the East Ballroom of the Hotel Commodore on Saturday afternoon, September 10. On Monday night, September 12, CBS and NBC TV newscasts showed the demonstration of screaming welfare recipients that took place right on Cloward schedule. They shouted demands for more "special benefits," though the present city general welfare budget (including hospital services, etc.) is almost a billion dollars annually, the Mayor says the city is "broke," and New Yorkers were hit this year with a city income tax in addition to state and federal taxes to pay for it all.

Prof. Cloward was right about the success of his Wednesday night meetings. Evidently his strategy of "disruptive tactics" will require costly police reinforcements at city welfare departments throughout our nation.

The prospects delighted Prof. William Ryan, formerly of Harvard now of Yale, who described himself to the audience as "a radical without portfolio." He said, "I have been enchanted with the Cloward strategy of blowing a fuse in the welfare agencies, housing developments, and among unmarried mothers. I wonder what would happen if there was a really systematic overload."

When a member of the audience went to the floor microphone during the question period to ask whether Dr. Cloward's strategy is a substitute for "Socialist organization of the proletariat, the industrial factory workers," Dr. Frances Piven of Columbia replied from the dais: "I really only want to make one point -- the disruption of the system. Welfare rolls will begin to go up; welfare payments will begin to go up-the impact will be very, very sharp. The mounting welfare budget will increase taxes, force cities to turn to the federal government. We have to help people to make claims; for this they will organize and act."
The 1966 Socialist Scholars conference was organized by many of the leading radicals of the day including former and current Communist Party supporters Louis Menashe, James Becker, Philip Foner, Eugene Genovese, Paul Sweezy and James Weinstein - later a founder of the Marxist based Democratic Socialists of America, in which today Frances Fox Piven serves as an honorary chair.

One time Soviet Spy and Communist Party member Victor Perlo also addressed the conference, as did the Party's chief theoretician Herbert Aptheker.

No doubt all were impressed by Cloward and Piven's cunning plan.

Obama to Use Oil Spill Disaster to Renew Push for Cap & Trade - Manufactured Crisis, Domestic Terrorism by Default

Please read and heed; also the linked articles. There is no explanation for the Obama regime's delay and their managed withholding of efforts in response to their charge of protecting America and the world from this oil leak crisis, other than the neo-Marxist, Cloward-Piven strategy of manufactured crisis. They are not that inept, just, apparently, that criminally evil.

Why else would such a force for nationalizing and globalizing the American economy and society leave it up to BP plc (not only a private corporation, also foreign) to manage the response to this national and world crisis?

Who do they blame, as government regulations were not enforced and government "response" maliciously provides for greater harm? -- the "capitalists" involved.

What do they seek, as they prevent measures of remedy? -- anti-American "cap and trade."

Especially if Obama has no sufficient reason for preventing the berming of the Louisiana coastline, this behavior indicates domestic terrorism, on the part of the Obama Administration. - AW

Commentary by Sher Zieve

Almost as if it had been created for him, it seems that the BP oil spill couldn’t have come at a better time for Obama. Just when The Obama was cogitating over how to reintroduce the Energy Cap & Tax bill--which will skyrocket energy rates so that many of us will not be able to afford basic electricity--the BP oil spill occurred. This was most convenient for Obama and his plans to continue gutting the USA and its citizens.

Suffice it to say, if US and US-based oil companies had not been forced by environmentalists to drill at depths to which humans cannot safely travel, this would not have happened. If the spill had occurred at more human-friendly depths, the clean-up would have been much easier to handle and much faster to affect. And, why is Obama still dragging his sizeable feet in allowing Louisiana and the other Gulf Coast states to begin cleanup on their own? Governor Bobby Jindal (R-LA) begged Obama for weeks to allow the placement of berms (raised barrier separating two areas). Obama ignored the Governor. Even leftist James Carville--a resident of the State--begged his leader to assist with: “We’re dyin’ down here!“ Finally, on 3 June, Obama relented and said he would allow the placements to begin. But, even this has not happened yet. But, it now appears it may be too late as the famously beautiful and pristine Louisiana marshlands have already been glutted with oil. Native birds are now covered with the deadly blend, while Obama fiddled, golfed, went on vacation and attended a Paul McCartney concert. Nero would be proud.

However, Obama believes this will work to his advantage. He thinks he can and will--as he did with ObamaCare--shove Cap & Trade down our throats and virtually complete his enslavement of we the American people. Don’t let him do it folks. Call your Senators and Congress people, especially those up for reelection in November, and tell them NO CAP & TRADE OR YOU’RE OUT! Obama must have his power base removed. At this juncture it truly is Obama & Co vs. the American People. He cannot and must not be allowed to get away with his newest atrocity. It is We-the-People who must now decide who is to survive. I’m counting on us!

O'Keefe Exposes Census Payroll Fraud; Systematic, Possibly Widespread; Reports from New Jersey & Louisiana

James O'Keefe has released video demonstrating massive payroll fraud in the U.S. Census. And if Census workers are being trained to falsify their payroll reports, how is our Census data being handled?

From biggovernment.com, today:
On April 27, 2010, I got a job with the United States Census Bureau in New Jersey. With a hidden camera, I caught four Census supervisors encouraging enumerators to falsify information on their time sheets. Over the course of two days of training, I was paid for four hours of work I never did. I was told to take a 70 minute lunch break, was given an hour of travel time to drive 10 minutes, and was told to leave work at 3:30pm. I resigned prior to doing any data collection but confronted Census supervisors who assured me, “no one is going to be auditing that that level,” and “nobody is going to be questioning it except for you.” Another Census supervisor only said he’d adjust my pay after I gave him a letter recanting my hours.

O'Keefe does the math: this could mean rampant fraud with workers trained to embezzle as much as $1,000,000,000 of taxpayers' money, throughout the nation. The video is shown and James O'Keefe's article continues at biggovernment.com.

Another undercover video report released today, reveals similarly systematic, trained, and approved embezzlement, in Louisiana. Again, this appears to be the order of the day and done on a massive scale:

Videos are found at veritasvisuals' page in YouTube.

The White House is officially running this operation. It took management of the U.S. Census away from the U.S. Department of Commerce, where it is traditionally administered. This is the same White House which is historically allied with ACORN and other Marxist/fascist operations and their operators, worldwide. Further, they are failing to enforce laws against massive illegal immigration, while persecuting Arizona for attempting to enforce official United States policy.

This purposeful and systematic abuse of government is clearly in line with the Cloward-Piven (or Alinsky, or Marxist, or... communist) strategy of corrupting, overwhelming, and collapsing American government, economy, and society. All, to bring about the revolution. This has been revealed by numerous Internet venues, including this one.

James Simpson's Chat with Mark Levin & His Cloward-Piven Articles Indexed for You

I.O. continues to implore you, o reader, to ask The Three SOVEREIGNTY NOW Questions, of your candidates and sitting politicians. And please pass them on to your favorite organization for electoral activism, so they can do the same.

Then, perhaps you would like to send seven more questions to your "conservative," or "moderate" elected officials in Congress and in your State House -- make it an even ten questions, total:
1. Cloward-Piven, do you get it? 2. Cloward-Piven, do you get it? 3. Cloward-Piven, do you get it?
4.
Do you get it? 5. Do you get it? 6. Cloward-Piven? 7. Eh?
Our compatriot and Frances Fox Piven's biggest fan, James Simpson was blessed with four minutes on the Mark Levin Show, a few days ago. That was Monday, 5/17. You can monitor it, if you click here and then move the slider over to 96 minutes.

As noted to Trevor Loudon on the last "Awakening," it is good, but rare, frankly, to see our bigger conservative media giving credit to our leading exposers of the conspiracy fact playing out in the Marxofascist war on/in America. After all, heroes get commendations at such a time, war time, even as others get wealthier from their work, bless their hearts, knowwhatImean?

Jim Simpson also put together an index of his Cloward-Piven articles on his DC Independent Examiner site, especially for Levin listeners clicking in. But it's for you, too; just click and see. And now, there is an excellent page to point out, when you put Cloward-Piven in the face of your crack state and national representatives and senators, also compatriots, family, friends, ex-friends, those who might be worth having as friends if they had a clue, etc.

See how it's done? All that is left now is the doing -- and the replacement of politicians who fail to heed the trumpet call to duty. - AW

PS: In case you didn't see it and want to, Sarah Palin's latest big speech, is presented and reviewed in light of these drastically important Cloward-Piven and American Sovereignty issues. Do you agree with its sentiments?

Thank you very much, Jim. Thank you very much, Trevor.

Sarah Palin Gets an 'A' on the Curve, but Full Credit Remains for Someone

This is worth our time. It is Sarah Palin's address, then her joining with Dennis Prager and Hugh Hewitt for questions and answers, last Saturday 5/22, at the University of Denver:

The event covered the bases of what constitutes inspiring conservatism, to the conventional 2010 mind and Governor Palin was luminous of mind and heart. Some even call her edgy and by conventionality's standards, she is. But two critical aspects of the doings of 2010 were missing on this evening, again. They are what is never communicated in polite Republican speeches, whether in reference to the current regime in the District of Columbia, or the broader usurpations presently schemed on lower Manhattan Island.

One observation left unexpressed is of the devastating, intentional sabotage of America, by causing its catastrophic economic and moral failure. This gambit of evil doers is intended to result in the transformation of a panicked America into a people thoroughly dependent upon the Marxist/fascist state, while the manipulated, community organized and unioned-up "proletariat" lead the way, in revolt. Call it Alinskyite, or Cloward-Piven, or Greecification. Call it revolution or insurrection; it is the Marxist method and the reason for the career path of Barack Obama, Saboteur in Chief.

Necessary for that revolution is the other element never fully articulated in the Republican speeches brought at least, to these ears: the elimination of the American sovereignties. That means the treasonous destruction of the personal sovereignty of the American Citizen and of our mutual principality of the People, claimed by our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. It is the effort of overruling parental sovereignty in our families and the denial of the Tenth Amendment sovereignty of each state in the union. And as for national sovereignty, the plan is for America to cease to exist as a true nation, but only a "country," as Obama so often terms us, controlled by the governance of the global Marxist/fascist state.

Perhaps the first of these alarms would be taboo because it seems too outlandish to be believed, or so think good Republican political consultants, despite the evidence of Glenn Beck's and numerous authors' success. As for the second warning, that would also motivate voters, but it would offend the GOP's influential parties of the third part, such as members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the stockholders and executives of multinational corporations, which still donate in great sums. To so many of their conventional minds and investment accounts, globalism "is good," globalism "works."

Sarah Palin referred to Margaret Thatcher in her Q&A session, by her reminding the world that heeding the teachings of the Old and New Testaments is what made America great. Another famous line from the Prime Minister was that, "...socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They always run out of other people's money." In the minds of the power hungry, whether "left" or "right," the plans of authoritarianism do turn out well, for them, because they simply gain more power, taken from others -- that is, such plans work well in the "acquisition phase," until authoritarianism actually sets in and the shoulders of the people they stand upon collapse, under their oppression.

God providing, these plans for the end of authentic America shall not work and we will relearn authentic Americanism, founded upon the gift of liberty and born of responsibility to our Creator. But, to play our part in victory and to defeat such a massive assault, we must regard the enemy, its weaponry, and its tactics of warfare as what they are. When will any politicians on the national stage show and tell that?

Please ask and promote The Three SOVEREIGNTY NOW Questions. - AW

James Simpson: Questioning Conspiracy

An excerpt from Jim Simpson's latest article, the excellent remainder found at its DC Independent Examiner page:
Questioning Conspiracy

Cloward and Piven were not merely two lone sociology professors conspiring on teacher salaries to bring down America. They were prominent socialists and lifelong members of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the largest and oldest worldwide socialist organization. Therein lay their strength, both in recruitment and resources. The leftist Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) held seminars for activists on how to use the CPS. Cloward and Piven’s Nation article was reprinted a record 30,000 times.

These folks were not alone. And they only added to the plethora of anti-American strategies being used, building on the already utilized Alinsky method. Also, we have been infiltrated since the 1930s by the KGB and their sister agencies in other communist countries whose goal has not merely been to obtain military secrets, but much more to create a subversive infrastructure in this country. The IPS, mentioned above, is largely a KGB front. All of its principals are American communists, who, by definition, work for the communist international, still run by the KGB despite the alleged "fall" of communism.

All these groups, the think tanks, the DSA, ACORN, ACLU, the National Lawyers Guild, the Communist Party and all their offshoots are led by people who know each other, have worked in the "movement" for years, and share the same goals, often trading places in the various organizations. It is well organized, powerful, and even deadly when necessary. Connections to foreign intelligence agencies like the KGB are well hidden, but very likely much closer than even a lot of people in the movement realize (those, like many prominent Democrats, are the useful idiots).

Finally, it doesn't take much for a conspiracy to work when you give participants a vested interest. That was an overtly stated component of the CPS. Cloward and Piven said:

First, this plan promises immediate economic benefits. This is a point of some importance because, whereas America's poor have not been moved in any number by radical political ideologies, they have sometimes been moved by their economic interests.

James Simpson: Cloward-Piven Government

"It is high time we overcome the denial...."

Excerpt 1, from Jim Simpson's article today, in DC Independent Examiner; I fervently suggest clicking through and reading the entire piece:
Cloward-Piven Government

In September of last year, American Thinker published Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis. Part of a series, it connected then presidential candidate Barack Obama to individuals and organizations practicing a malevolent strategy for sabotaging our society. Since then the story of that strategy has found its way across the blogosphere, onto the airwaves of radio stations across the country, the Glenn Beck television show, Bill O’Reilly and now Mark Levin.
Excerpt 2:
The real goal of “healthcare” legislation, the real goal of “cap and trade,” the real goal of “stimulus” is to rip the guts out of our private economy and transfer wide swaths of it over to government control. Do not be deluded by the propaganda. These initiatives are vehicles for change. They are not goals in and of themselves, except in their ability to deliver power, and will make matters much worse, for that is their design.
Excerpt 3:
It is time to acknowledge that these people are our enemies. They don’t use guns, yet, but they are just as dangerous, determined and duplicitous as the communists we faced in the Cold War, Korea, Vietnam and bush wars across the globe, and the Nazis we faced in World War II. It is high time we overcome the denial, and fully digest and internalize this fact, with all its ugly ramifications.
Excerpt 4:
Every single citizen who cares about this country should be spending every minute of his/her spare time lobbying, organizing, writing and planning. Fight every initiative they launch. It is all destructive. If we are to root out this evil, it is critical that in 2010 we win competent, principled leaders willing to defend our constitution and our country. Otherwise the malevolent cabal that occupies the seat of government today will become too entrenched.
Tonight on "The Awakening" at 9pm ET, 6pm PT, we will examine our opportunities for activism, especially electoral activism, and some of the prominent organizations at work. You may listen at this Sentinel Radio location.

Manufactured Healthcare Crisis

I.O.: Witness the healthcare thrust, of the Cloward-Piven tear-down, of free, authentic America. It is Marxist revolution through systemic violence and societal terrorism. Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn are smiling. Add the names, Obama, Pelosi, and Soros. While they euphemistically call it "disruption," it costs livelihoods and lives. What do you mean by "sustainable?" What do they mean to end, and to sustain?

by James Simpson

These are perilous times. Last November’s election of Barack Obama and a filibuster-proof majority of Democrats in both houses allowed a virulent criminal cabal to capture our nation’s seat of power. As with the Democrat takeover of Congress in 2006, it was a disaster of epic proportions. With one shocking, enormous, blatantly partisan, self-serving and destructive proposal following on the heels of another, the sheer enormity of their power grab defies description. But as each new proposal moves forward, the hand of the Crisis Strategy becomes clear.

If there was ever any doubt that Barack Obama personifies the Crisis Strategy, it should long since have been removed for anyone with a mind. Since so many Americans seem to have lost theirs, I address this to the rest of you. For with God’s help, it is you and I, not our gutless, hapless, corrupt politicians, nor our sleeping populace that will save this country or allow it to fall.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, the Crisis Strategy was the brainchild of two radical socialist college professors, Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. The idea was to overwhelm government with demands for services to the point where the system would collapse and provide an opening for the socialists to take over.

Their strategy was behind creation of the National Welfare Rights Organization in the 1960s and 1970s which dramatically increased the welfare roles and caused the near bankruptcy of New York City in 1975; creation of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), prime instigators of the mortgage meltdown; the national Motor Voter law signed by President Clinton in 1993, which opened the floodgates to vote fraud by ACORN and similar groups; and the illegal immigrant amnesty movement. As we all should know by now, Barack Obama worked with and trained ACORN workers for many years, and is known and supported by all the major players in this movement.

Healthcare nationalization is a major component of this strategy. As Lenin said, “Medicine is the keystone of the arch of socialism.” The Left has agitated almost since the turn of the last century for some kind of socialized healthcare system. In fact, from 1939 forward, practically every Congressional session proposed national healthcare legislation. As aptly described in an incisive analysis of Medicare by the Cato Institute:

For more than 50 years before the 1965 enactment of Medicare, the American people repeatedly rejected the idea of government-mandated health insurance. Yet advocates of such federal power inside and outside of government did not take no for an answer. Year after year they kept coming back--pursuing incremental strategies, misrepresenting their proposals, even distributing propaganda paid for with government money in apparent violation of existing law.

Their dream was partially realized with creation of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965 as part of President Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society." The stated goal of these programs was to provide comprehensive healthcare for seniors and the poor. As the programs grew, the Left clamored for ever more benefits to these groups and ever expanding definitions of covered individuals. Illegal immigration, also encouraged by the Left, contributed to a rapidly growing pool of beneficiaries.

Like any free good, demand for services under these programs has skyrocketed. Spending levels were insignificant in the early years, but today Medicare and Medicaid today comprise 36 percent of total US healthcare spending.

Medicare was originally to be funded with “Hospital Insurance” (HI) premiums tacked onto the Social Security FICA tax. No one seriously believed the HI tax would cover all costs. And despite more than quadrupling the HI tax rate from 0.7 percent to 2.9 percent, it hasn’t. Today HI taxes cover a mere 40 percent of Medicare spending. About 21 percent comes from premiums paid by beneficiaries and other sources. Fully 39 percent comes from general revenues (i.e. you and me, pal.) Citation here.

Medicaid is funded roughly 50/50 by federal and state governments. As an essentially free benefit to the poor, Medicaid has no tax associated with it, so it is covered by state and federal income tax revenues – that’s you and me again, sucker. In 2006, Medicaid spending alone totaled $314 billion. For perspective, this is roughly equivalent to the baseline defense budget (i.e. excluding war spending like for Iraq/Afghanistan). State Medicaid programs are the largest single recipient of all federal grants, comprising 43 percent of the total.

In 2008, federal Medicaid and Medicare spending totaled $656 billion. Comprising only 2.8 percent of the federal budget in 1967, these two programs today consume 22 percent of total federal spending. This is the largest component of the federal budget, even exceeding total wartime outlays for national defense.

Corrected for inflation, Medicare and Medicaid spending has increased by 2,735 percent since funding began in 1967. That is a real annual growth rate of 8.5 percent, almost three times the annual rate of economic growth for the same period.[1]

All these effects were predicted by economists, and we were repeatedly warned. The Left knew.

These spiraling costs have to be covered somehow. The Left knew this too. Besides raiding the General Fund, the federal government has used its monopsony power to strong arm ever greater price concessions from the healthcare industry. Medicare and Medicaid reimburse doctors a small and shrinking portionof the fees needed to cover their costs.

For example, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recently responded to President Obama's wildly false claim that Surgeons charge "$30,000, $40,000 [or] $50,000"

Private insurance on the other hand, provides a larger reimbursement, and uninsured individuals who do not qualify for the government programs pay full price. These prices are much higher than they would be in absence of the government programs because medical providers have to recoup their costs somehow. And because the pool of Medicare and Medicaid recipients continues to grow, prices keep going up.

So while private citizens pay the lion’s share of taxes to fund Medicare and Medicaid, we are also cross-subsidizing these government programs through higher insurance premiums than we would otherwise pay. This is a primary reason medical care has become more expensive.

The left has attacked the private healthcare system from another angle as well: malpractice lawsuits. It has gone largely unreported in the mass media, but the dramatic expansion of all forms of liability lawsuits since the 1960s is the result of a deliberate, organized effort by leftist law professors to turn civil courts into agents of income redistribution. By undermining contract law and expanding the definition of liability – ideas advocated at leading law schools – legal precedents have allowed trial lawyers to pick the pockets of American business as never before. Liability costs have skyrocketed as a result.

We see the consequences of their handiwork directly in the increased cost of products, liability insurance of all kinds, and the decline or in some cases elimination of domestic industries. According to a study performed by the Pacific Research Institute (PRI), the United States pays out $589 billion per year in excessive tort litigation. That is approximately 5 percent of GDP and costs a family of four on average about $8,000 per year.

Glorified ambulance chaser and Democratic Presidential Candidate John Edwards made his millions suing doctors for procedures that are inherently risky, and greatly increased jury awards with a new innovation: suing nurses, anesthesiologists, hospitals and anyone else in his path. Following is a quote from one doctor:

"The John Edwards we know crushed [obstetrics, gynecology] and neurosurgery in North Carolina," said Dr. Craig VanDerVeer, a Charlotte neurosurgeon. "As a result, thousands of patients lost their health care."
Following are some statistics on medical malpractice liability from the PRI report: for a foot amputation. Instead they say, "Medicare reimbursements to physicians for foot amputations range from approximately $700 to $1200 which includes the follow up care the surgeon provides to the patient up to 90 days after the operation." That is simply outrageous!

· Approximately $124 billion dollars is spent annually by the health care
profession to avoid medical liability.

· About $30 billion more is spent on direct liability lawsuit costs.

· Malpractice liability cost is 1 percent of GDP and increases the cost of healthcare by approximately 7 percent.

· These added costs deny health insurance coverage to between 2.4 and 4.3 million people, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

The increasing costs of medical care resulting from Medicare, Medicaid and the dramatic growth of malpractice lawsuits have provided activists with the rationale they need to agitate for socialized medicine. But this has been their strategy all along. Medicare and Medicaid were designed to undermine private healthcare, making it ever more expensive and unmanageable, until enough interest could be generated for systemic change. Similarly, changes in tort law aimed at turning our courts into vehicles for income redistribution have overburdened our legal system with massive caseloads and the highest liability costs in the world.

While doubtless many thought they were doing good, the ultimate goal, as elucidated by the Left, has everywhere and always been Socialism.

Furthermore, they grossly overstate the problem. We hear constantly about the “47 million uninsured.” These figures include 10 to 25 million illegal immigrants, 14 million people who are already eligible for medical benefits but haven’t availed themselves, and 10 million people earning $75,000 or more who could presumably afford their own insurance if they chose to. Even assuming the lowest estimate for illegal immigrants, the true number of uninsured would be only 13 million. Yet the Democrats want to nationalize the entire industry, currently 17 percent of GDP, to provide benefits to 4 percent of the U.S. population.

And while medical costs increase due largely to government manufactured problems, shrinking returns in the healthcare industry put doctors and hospitals out of business. Meanwhile, the astronomical cost of medical school plus this increasingly hostile atmosphere toward the private medical market is turning more and more qualified people away from the medical field entirely. Costs increase while supply decreases, the classic consequence of government intervention.

Yet Obama and the brain-dead Democrat Congress want to give us a government-run system that will guarantee magnitudes more of the same.

Can you see the Left laughing at you?

However, their true motives have finally been exposed. For seniors Obamacare essentially advocates euthanasia. Benefits will be drastically cut, and in some cases will become completely unavailable. As Obama said publicly: “Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller.” In other words, if you think you are going to die anyway, why don’t you just save us the money and go ahead…

For others it will mean a dramatic reduction in both the availability and quality of care. Obama’s health policy advisor Ezekiel Emmanuel (brother of Rahm Emmanuel) admits as much. He even wants doctors to reconsider the Hippocratic Oath:

Amazingly, Dr. Emanuel criticizes the Hippocratic Oath as partly to blame for the "overuse" of medical care: "Medical school education and post graduate education emphasize thoroughness," he wrote. Physicians take the "Hippocratic Oath's admonition to 'use my power to help the sick to the best of my ability and judgment' as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others." (Journal of the American Medical Association, June 18, 2008.) Of course that is what patients hope their doctors will do. But Dr. Emanuel wants doctors to look beyond the needs of their own patient and consider "social justice" (emphasis mine.) They should think about whether the money being spent on their patient could be better spent elsewhere.

Who in God’s green earth are these people?

The Left has relentlessly insisted for decades that we pay every penny for care of indigents, the poor, illegals and elderly to the point where hospitals are closing their doors because they can no longer afford it. But once given the opportunity to transfer this responsibility to the government, their message to the elderly and the rest of us is essentially: drop dead!

Let me put this as bluntly as possible. The Left has never cared about the elderly or the poor, but ruthlessly uses them as part of their long-term strategy to overburden private healthcare until it ultimately collapses. The same Leftists who so passionately demanded free healthcare for all now want euthanasia for seniors and dramatically lower services for the rest of us. It is a power grab, pure and simple. There is nothing more to it.

The Dems won’t cut benefits to the poor just yet though, because they still need their votes. Later on they will need them as hired muscle. But once they secure unchallengeable power, do you think they’ll care? They have willfully worked to destroy every beneficial thing in our society. These are vicious, selfish, utterly corrupt parasites. They have spent a lifetime abandoned to a philosophy that makes excuses for everything and anything in the service of one ultimate goal: absolute power.

These people have to be stopped. NOW.

I went to Senator Ben Cardin’s town hall meeting last Monday and came across a woman who had worked as a nurse in Britain’s public health system. She provided a personal anecdote which is little peek into what we can expect should we adopt the Democrats’ plan. Catherine Midkiff, RN RSN, has been a nurse since 1979 and lived in the UK in 1991 and 1992. She earned $10 per hour there, compared to the $22 per hour then being earned by nurses in the US. As an agency nurse she earned more than staff nurses. Those women had to live in a dormitory on site as their pay would not afford them private residences.

She said at St. George’s Hospital she worked on a seniors ward where 23 elderly men and women shared the same room. When she asked where the code cart was, her British counterparts laughed, saying, “Oh you must be from America…” For non-seniors, most British hospitals put six people in a room. Wait lists are extremely long. An elderly British citizen she knew came to the US to get heart surgery after waiting a full year in the UK system. Others weren’t so lucky. For many years, British hospitals had no trauma centers. Thousands died as a result.

For his part, Cardin simply perpetuated the smear against Obamacare protesters, claiming they were Republican stooges spreading disinformation. However, there were over 2,000 of us and only a handful of ACORN, union and party thugs. That we are no longer being fooled is becoming more and more apparent. The Dems control both houses of Congress so this remains an uphill battle, but if enough get the message that their careers are on the line, these utterly self-serving urchins may actually come around to our point of view, simply for sheer survival purposes.

We cannot let up. Not for a minute.

Government Controlled Healthcare, a Hand that Rocks, Cradles to Graves

“Medicine is the keystone of the arch of socialism.”
- Vladimir Lenin 1,2,3

It would be done to us already, if he had his way.

One wonders, is it essential to his mission, to maintain popular support, including a loyal opposition, in a civil society?

Or is Barack Obama assigned an overriding task of "disruption" and destruction?

And, by their polemic behavior, are he and his circle actually trying to foment and escalate conflict, within America?

Do they seek an overall breakdown, eventually so exacerbated that it prepares the way for a new mutation of "the dictatorship of the proletariat?"

If so, what is the the next phase of the plan,
whether Obama politically survives, or not?

Investigating Obama?

Why do You show me iniquity,
And cause me to see trouble?
For plundering and violence are before me;
There is strife, and contention arises.
Therefore the law is powerless,
And justice never goes forth.
For the wicked surround the righteous;
Therefore perverse judgment proceeds.

Habakkuk 1:3,4, NKJV

Last September, I decided to open a weblog called "Investigating Obama." It was intended to be a little launching pad for the distribution of one-page warnings, just before the general election, of the grave dangers inherent in the act of voting for Barack Obama, for president.

In October, I wrote the first, "ACORN & Obama - Allied How? To What End?" listing the documented ties which show that Obama has arisen of, by, and for the same neo-Marxist movement.

Later that month, the other one-pager, "Investigating Obama: Career Path Toward a Neo-Marxist Presidency," achieved an appreciable degree of circulation, boosted by headline linking on FreeRepublic.com. This traced what was known, by that time, of Obama's birth to Marxists, his nurturance and mentoring by Marxists, and his education and highly developed career path to the presidency -- all interdependent with the investments of fellow Marxists and radical Islamists. Both FreeRepublic and the site storing the articles were hit by cyberattacks.

While numerous sources were cited, the research and writing most critical to this exercise was James Simpson's "Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis." This was to date, the most revealing study of the Marxist operations leading up to the Obama regime, including the work of Saul Alinsky, Richard Cloward/Frances Fox Piven, George Soros, "community organizations," SDS/Weathermen madmen, and alas, my PUMA friends, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton. It also began to point out a systematic intentionality behind the well-timed and so highly effective "mortgage meltdown" -- an intentionality we have begun to see spreading beyond those we have tended to understand as Marxist, to a greater evil collaboration of those seeking a globally controlled society. After all, evil, godlike control over our lives (and deaths) is the shared aim of all the world's "ubers," of all super-elites.

Tragically, Obama was "elected," and I found myself with a continuing chore. Investigating Obama continued to point out strategy and tactics of his evil ideological movement. It also traced highlights of the movement to bring Barack Hussein Obama II, a.k.a., Barry Soetoro and all those responsible in his pseudoelectoral process, to constitutional accountability regarding his readily apparent ineligibility for the presidency.

I have tried to avoid this site's becoming another set of general criticisms of Barack Obama and his "questionable policies." That gives him and his comrades much too much credibility. In fact, this writer has "had it up to here" with political pundits complaining and head-scratching about "President Obama."

Any commentator who bills himself as one seeking to conserve the declared principles of America and of our Constitution, but who does not point out, front and center, that Obama is a hardcore Marxist is incompetent and passe'. Such a person has no excuse for the pussyfooting, by this time. They are akin to the flaccid compromisers of the Republican congressional contingent and their cigarette sucking Repub Club operative friends.

Any commentator who fails to study and declare the evidence and implications of Obama's ineligibility for the presidency is likewise a blithering shame, even if his name is Limbaugh or Beck. And any Horowitz, Malkin, or Medved who ridicules those who side with the Constitution against the usurpation of the presidency is worthy of contempt -- or pity, you can choose.

It may seem, this June 2009, that we are at an impasse -- and what but the posterior of an imp could stink as repulsively as this? I am tired of walking up to this stench day after day, and breathing it. It burns the nose, much worse than stale air, but there is no stalemate, here. There is instead, a course which this putrid disease is taking and the cure continues to be humbled adherence to the healing power of truth -- and especially, truth's Author.

I took much of the month of May off from posting in I.O. Now, that time is over. It is time to meekly rejoin the ranks of those who are applying themselves faithfully -- to regroup and reassemble what we know -- and we know even more, significantly more. It is time to tell more of the truth to more of the American People and the world, regardless of the only semipotent to useful idiot "thought leaders," who are themselves concomitant with America's Marxist "dumb-down" and the hoodwinking by the fraud known as "President Obama." No excuses.

America's greatest active enemy is in control of the White House, Congress, our financial system, and half our courts.

Or, is that true, Pogo? Or is America's greatest active enemy the willful ignorance of its People?

As it is, if you wish, you will have more information here, for the overcoming of these determined enemies, which are purposefully destroying America.

How to Create a Crisis and Steal a Nation

I.O. emphatically recommends this insider account of just how the Alinsky and Cloward-Piven curses upon society have yielded bitter fruit for America -- in the welfare crisis, the current finance crisis, and in the coming federal spending catastrophe. It may seem a long story for a blog, but it is of imperative value, for understanding how our proud nation is about to be brought to its knees.

by Sam Sewell, The Steady Drip blog

Note: It will quickly be obvious to the reader why details have been obscured, omitted or fictionalized in this narrative of events that began nearly forty years ago.

Se non è vero, è ben trovato.

Even small children know how to get what they want by creating a crisis. Witness any “temper tantrum.” My wife and I teach parenting skills. One of our sayings which we recommend to parents when dealing with a child’s “crisis strategy” is: “Poor planning on your part does not constitute a crisis on my part. No, you can’t borrow $20 because you are broke, even if you did promise to take Betty Lou to the movies tonight.” The child did not get their way. A similar “No!” needs to be said to adult politicians who have created a crisis to get their way.

Another example; Paris taxi-drivers, in protest against a police demand that they take physical examinations, threatened to obey every traffic law to the letter—which would, they vowed, produce the greatest traffic jam Paris had ever seen. The Taxi drivers got their way.

Creating a crisis to get one’s way is a strategy as old as Moses calling down plagues upon Pharaoh and saying “Let my people go.”

To better understand the fascinating story below we need some background information. In the late 1960s a pair of college professors who thought they were original thinkers came up with something called the Cloward-Piven Strategy (CPS), a strategy for forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. “Cloward-Piven's early promoters cited Chicago radical community organizer Saul Alinsky as their inspiration.”Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1989 book, Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judaeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one.” Notice that Alinski might have heard about the Paris taxi drivers, and then gave their strategy a radical left twist.

Saul had a huge influence on radical left people of the day. Saul was the subject of Hillary Clinton's senior honors thesis at Wellesley College. “In early 1993, the White House requested that Wellesley not release the thesis to anyone. Wellesley complied, instituting a new rule that closed access to the thesis of any sitting U.S. president or first lady, a rule that in practice applied only to Rodham.” Alinski also strongly influenced a young Chicago “community organizer” named Barack Obama.

An old friend from my spooky past recently reminded me of his adventures back in the early 1970s. If you did not know that clergy are used for Intelligence and undercover missions you haven’t been paying attention to history. Believe it or not these decades old events, told by The Rev. Big Goon, help explain our present political and economic crisis.
Dear Aristotle the Hun

I’ve been doing some thinking that I thought I would share with you. My memories of the work I was doing when we knew each other at UMKC have really helped inform me about our present situation with our new President and the financial crisis.

I have visited “The Steady Drip” many times and I know your reputation for accurate research so you will find citations included to back up what I have to say. I noticed that on your blog you have expressed suspicions about the onset of the financial meltdown just in time to help Obama get elected. You also expressed suspicions about the most liberal President and Congress in the history of the nation conveniently coming into office at a time when the economy was so wounded that it might be possible to establish a socialist economic system. Just how “lucky” can these liberals get?

What I have to say may help you understand the dynamics but I doubt it will do away with your suspicions. Being suspicious is a job requirement for both Clergy and Intelligence work. I also know you are well connected to the Internet community and influential bloggers so you have my permission to use my comments as you see fit.

Here is my story: I arrived in Kansas City, Mo. in May of 1970, shortly after the first bombing done by a group of left wing radicals. I worked for the Western Diocese of the Episcopal Church which sponsored the St. Thomas Student Center at UMKC. Naming an Episcopal student center after “Doubting Thomas” was glaringly appropriate for a college campus in the early 70s No, your readers can not ask about my real employer. (As the old joke goes; “If I told you I would have to kill you.”)

The summer of 1970 in Kansas City was a really wild ride. In 1970 alone, an estimated 3,000 bombings and 50,000 bomb threats occurred in the United States, and Kansas City was not left out of the chaos. One of my assignments was to look into the activities of a group of radicals who, after they were arrested, became melodramatically known as “the Kansas City Four.” They were really bungling, small time radicals. A legal case from those days survives on the Internet.

It was arranged for the FBI to contact known radicals in the community and ask them questions about me. My “case officer” posed as a state employee, so my monthly meetings with him were open and aroused no suspicion. I was warmly accepted by the radical community, and even spent some time living at a place operated by young radicals called the Ecstatic Umbrella, until I found more permanent housing.

The Second Presbyterian Church at 52nd and Oak owned an apartment building, and one of the Kansas City bombers lived in that building. As well as doing my job as a campus chaplain, I became a youth pastor at Second Presbyterian, and took an apartment in their building. I must admit that I was very uncomfortable living in the same building with a LSD using, grass smoking, alcoholic who I knew was making bombs in his bedroom.

By the time I entered UMKC in the fall as a graduate student, my cover was already firmly established. To put a cinch knot on my cover story, I also became the Chaplain of the Viet Nam Veterans Against the War. I still experience a gratifying chuckle over how perfectly, easily, and quickly I had infiltrated the radical community in KC. It wasn’t that hard. Almost everyone was doing acid and grass. Every weekend there was a wild carnival of hippy, stoner, radical, love-child young people in Volker Park. Contact was easy. I won my status in the counter-culture community with nothing more than a prank. I purchased a case of dish washing liquid, and in the dark of night I poured the entire case into the Plaza fountain. My accomplices were very impressed with my boldness and it made the front page of the Kansas City Star.

I had a different name then. I was called Rev. Big Goon. It should be noted here that I physically resemble a great silver back gorilla, although my knuckles don’t drag on the ground. A local Kansas City undercover officer who had no idea who I was gave me that name. I saw it in a police report on activity in Volker Park. Years later I found out that my cover was so believable that I was on a list of dangerous radicals that Kansas City Chief of Police Clarence Kelly took with him when he was appointed as the Director of the FBI in 1973.

For me, the investigation of the Kansas City Four quickly fizzled. Other investigators uncovered the activities of the suspects, provided the evidence and they were arraigned in July of 1971. My last contact with that case was to arrange to be appointed as a Chaplain for the Jackson County jail, where I interviewed one of the suspects who was being held there as a federal prisoner awaiting trial.

The case was hugely overblown, in the way law enforcement and prosecutors will exaggerate to make their work seem to be more important and to advance their careers. One of them was more of a nut case than a criminal and he might have been the most dangerous because of his hatred and violence against “the system”. He is still alive, on the streets, and probably still dangerous.

I struck up a romantic involvement with a social worker from Chicago who was working for Family and Children’s Services, a state of Missouri agency. Her friends and contacts were a gold mine for my new mission. That is how I became involved with the Welfare Rights Organization (WRO) of Kansas City where I saw, first hand, how community activists applied the CPS theory in real life.

CPS and Saul Alinski were all the rage among left wing professors, activists, students and social workers. My social worker girl friend from Chicago knew all about Saul Alinski. CPS was a new idea seen as dazzlingly brilliant by social workers and other liberals. She introduced me to a radical community activist, also from Chicago, who was organizing poor black people who lived in Wayne Minor public housing. His name was Mark. Mark was also a clergyman. Mark introduced me to a powerfully charismatic black woman who was Executive Director of the Kansas City Welfare Rights Organization. There were several young white men and women who worked for the WRO. Mark taught me the ropes about how we were going to train these young “community organizers” and welfare recipients, so that they became effective foot soldiers for the left wing.

The socialist professors who devised the CPS: “The authors (Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven) noted that the number of Americans subsisting on welfare -- about 8 million, at the time -- probably represented less than half the number who were technically eligible for full benefits. They proposed a "massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls." Cloward and Piven calculated that persuading even a fraction of potential welfare recipients to demand their entitlements would bankrupt the system. The result, they predicted, would be "a profound financial and political crisis" that would unleash "powerful forces … for major economic reform at the national level." Their article called for "cadres of aggressive organizers" to use "demonstrations to create a climate of militancy." Intimidated by threats of black violence, politicians would appeal to the federal government for help. Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly, leftwing journalists, would float the idea of "a federal program of income redistribution," in the form of a guaranteed living income for all -- working and non-working people alike. Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. They would apply pressure on Washington to implement it. With every major city erupting into chaos, Washington would have to act.”

Mark and I were part of that "cadres of aggressive organizers." We would go through the vast, dilapidated cavern of poverty called Wayne Minor with a list of all the entitlements offered by the State of Missouri. Each person we talked to became instantly “motivated” to apply for more welfare benefits. Before long, people began seeking us out at the WRO office. Outreach to the community wasn’t necessary. The community flocked to us. We would show them how to fill out application forms, and many times we filled out the forms for them.

When we had a large number of people ready to apply for new benefits, or additional benefits they had not known they were entitled to before our training, we arranged for busses to take our new recruits to the state office building. We had spent many hours training them as to what to do and what not to do. We told them it was ok to be loud, obnoxious, aggressive, but to never be physical or damage property. In other words, do everything you can do to be uncivil, but don’t get yourself arrested. We planned the event for a Friday and, of course, we called the media. Our “trainees” staged a class “A” media event for the television cameras. Our first “action” was a rousing success.

When we got to the WRO office Monday morning there were hundreds of people waiting to be “trained” in how to collect welfare. The part of the welfare system to feel the most heat right away was what the state called “intake.” Intake social workers were overwhelmed, intimidated, and routinely approved questionable benefits because of the stress they were experiencing. The state began a panicky search for new intake workers, and anybody with a BA degree was practically dragged off the street. Larger office space was arranged for the intake department. Mark and I were heroes to the radical community.

Since this was happening at the same time in St. Louis and other cities, Kitt Bond, then Auditor of State of Missouri, and soon-to-become Governor, asked for help. I was assigned to brief his representative about what was behind the welfare revolt.

As it turns out Mark, the community organizer from Chicago, and my social worker girl friend from Chicago were also friends with the Kansas City Four. Soon my primary mission was accomplished, and I went on to other projects, but I never forgot the effectiveness of creating a crisis to bring about radical change. I concluded that the WRO and the Alinski/CPS inspired radical community organizers were more of a danger to the nation than the Laurel and Hardy bombers.

I stopped doing Intelligence work, the years went by, and I began my career as a full time Pastor. Not long after I “went straight” I again ran into the CPS and Saul Alinsky. During the administration of George H. W. Bush I began hearing reports of loud, obnoxious, aggressive, poor people taking over bank lobbies and demanding that they be given mortgages. All this was happening because community activists, many from Chicago, were doing the same thing to banks that had been done to the state welfare offices back in Kansas City. The role of WRO was now filled by ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now).

Stan Kurtz of National Review comments on ACORN’S tactics. “While ACORN holds to NWRO’s radical economic framework and its confrontational 1960’s-style tactics, the targets and strategy have changed. ACORN prefers to fly under the national radar, organizing locally in liberal urban areas — where, Stern observes, (Sol Stern ACORN’s Nutty Regime for Cities.” local legislators and reporters are often “slow to grasp how radical ACORN’s positions really are.” ACORN’s new goals are municipal “living wage” laws targeting “big-box” stores like Wal-Mart, rolling back welfare reform, and regulating banks — efforts styled as combating “predatory lending.” Unfortunately, instead of helping workers, ACORN’s living-wage campaigns drive businesses out of the very neighborhoods where jobs are needed most. ACORN’s opposition to welfare reform only threatens to worsen the self-reinforcing cycle of urban poverty and family breakdown. Perhaps most mischievously, says Stern, ACORN uses banking regulations to pressure financial institutions into massive “donations” that it uses to finance supposedly non-partisan voter turn-out drives.”

Obama’s role as a radical community organizer and ACORN “leadership trainer” is well established. Kurtz continues: “ACORN’s tactics are famously “in your face.” Just think of Code Pink’s well-known operations (i.e. threatening to occupy congressional offices, interrupting the testimony of General David Petraeus) and you’ll get the idea. ACORN protesters have disrupted Federal Reserve hearings, but mostly deploy their aggressive tactics locally. Chicago is home to one of its strongest chapters, and ACORN has burst into a closed city council meeting there. ACORN protestors in Baltimore disrupted a bankers’ dinner and sent four busloads of profanity-screaming protestors against the mayor’s home, terrifying his wife and kids. Even a Baltimore city council member who generally supports ACORN said their intimidation tactics had crossed the line.”

It wouldn’t take a degree in economics to see what was going to happen. This time the Alinski/CPS pressure wasn’t aimed at the state of Missouri and Kitt Bond. By 1999 Fannie Mae came under pressure from the Clinton administration to expand mortgage loans to low and moderate income borrowers. At the same time, institutions in the primary mortgage market pressed Fannie Mae to ease credit requirements on the mortgages it was willing to purchase, enabling them to make loans to subprime borrowers at interest rates higher than conventional loans. Everybody knows how the problem escalated from there

Do you still have doubts about your suspicions that the financial crisis happened just in time to help Obama get elected? Do you still have doubts about your suspicions that there is something fishy about the financial crisis and the way Congress passed the trillion dollar “Reward Liberal Causes and Constituents Bill” without anyone actually reading it, because we had a “crisis”? See I told you that I wouldn’t be able to help your suspicious nature. J

The Rev. Big Goon

To emphasize Rev. Big Goon’s comments here is an absolutely brilliant piece by Jim Simpson that details the connection of Barack Obama to those who practice the Cloward-Piven strategy.
“Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis”

After reading Jim Simpson’s article you will more fully understand how CPS is connected to Barack Obama, and why Obama keeps using the word “crisis” in every speech he gives. I don’t know how to escape the conclusion that manufactured crisis is what clobbered the economy. Manufactured crisis is what made Obama President, and manufactured crisis is what drives his administration and his policies. There is a web site entitled, “Things I know are true but can’t prove”. Maybe I should send them an email.

Here is a part of the puzzle I think others have missed.

If an enemy of America were to pair the Cloward-Piven strategy to the principles of the new science of networks, it would be possible to target a hub in a system, create a crisis, and by causing that hub to fail, create a domino effect in other hubs and the rest of the system. See here:
A news release from UMass Amherst
and
Doug Simpson's weblog of research on the collision of law, networks and disruptive technologies
And a link to the most popular book on the subject Six Degrees: The Science of a Connected Age by Duncan Watts

“Columbia Professor Duncan J. Watts builds on the work of mathematicians, physicists, biologists, sociologists, economists and others to advance the new science of networks. "Six Degrees: The Science of a Connected Age " brings a sociologist’s perspective to a field relevant to those dealing with complex systems and their robustness and fragility under stress. The science of networks has significance for those wrestling with current issues of law and public policy in a wide spectrum of applications including electric power grids, insurance markets and anti-terror measures. In 1999, Barabasi and Albert published a ground breaking paper "Emergence of Scaling in Random Networks." Science, 286, 509-512. (1999). This paper showed that certain connections in real world networks don't have a normal ("bell curve") distribution but rather follow a power law distribution. This means that there is an increased likelihood of extreme events in such "scale free" networks. As a result, in scale-free networks, as networks evolve, a few nodes will be "hubs" with an extraordinary number of connections. Barabasi and Albert also found that the evolution of these hubs depended on the combination of network growth and "preferential attachment" - the tendency for new nodes to connect to those already well connected (the "rich get richer" effect.)”

The major reason other political commentators have not addressed the issue of network science is that only mathematicians and scientists understand it. My feeble attempt at a “plain speak” translation is that all networks tend to form hubs that are connected to thousands of other networks, and more importantly, to other hubs. These hubs are vulnerable to a “created crisis” and when that happens the entire web collapses, be it the World Wide Web or the web of the U.S. economy.

National security experts are well aware of the vulnerability of network hubs and publish Network Vulnerability and Risk Assessment reports. This one is researched and published by DTIC Provider of DoD Technical Information to Support The Defense Community. One of the points to note is that: “Threats that originate inside the network tend to have the ability to exploit vulnerabilities in a serial form. This allows the attacker to traverse or "leap-frog" across the network to an advantageous position”. The most likely scenario would expect the attack to come from inside the network when we are looking at the financial network. I have read this risk assessment and it is too general to connect dots as to how a financial “crisis” might be timed and executed, but it is very clear that it can happen.

We know how leftist activists created a crisis and turned the mortgage lending business into a “mortgage welfare entitlement” lending policy. We know that the hub we know as “mortgage banking” failed, bringing down the rest of the economy with it. What we don’t know is how the failure was timed.

My guess is that the science of networks was used to tilt the election in Obama’s favor and damage the economy to such an extent that reshaping it along a socialist paradigm became possible.

One of my hopes in writing this article is to encourage real network scientists to take a look at my hypothesis. One friend who is a scientist at Amherst says I am on the right track, but that isn’t enough to make a definitive statement.

Remember all that talk about how savvy the Obama campaign was about using the Internet? Remember all those Internet CEO’s who were on the Obama team? Remember that George Soros, "the man who broke the Bank of England", the king of creating market and currency crisis, was on Obama’s team? Can you really imagine a likely scenario where these people do not know about network science and how to use a created crisis to get what they want?

We know for sure that a crisis was deliberately created with malice aforethought by enemies of our country and liberal politicians. They overtly said they would do it and they did. Many of these created events have damaged our nation since 1970. The culprits aren’t even trying to hide the fact that they did it. Decent Americans have trouble believing that people could deliberately do something so evil. That is how deliberately evil people pull the wool over the eyes of decent people.

This isn’t a conspiracy theory. No black helicopters or deep throats. It isn’t hidden and it isn’t secret. It is easily visible for those who have eyes to see. Those radical socialists who used deliberately created crisis tactics were successful beyond their expectations. I am reminded of Osama Ben Laden’s pleasant surprise when he was informed about how successful the 9/11 attack had been. I imagine Obama shares Osama’s elation over his unlikely success.
